Insomnia qualifies for mental health treatment plans

Professor Nick Zwar (CI) was recently interviewed in News GP -the newsletter for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Professor Zwar confirmed that insomnia does qualify for treatment under Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plans as a stand-alone disorder. This means that GPs are more readily able to refer patients to psychologists for treatment and is fantastic news for patients suffering from long-term insomnia who will be able to receive "gold-standard" treatment through psychological services.
